We often tend to spend our free time talking with makeup professionals, pouring over beauty products and trying out the products on our own so we often find out some really amazing makeup tips along the way. Whether it’s how to apply a product in the right way, how to make your makeup to last longer or which products suits you the best for each problem, we have got some really helpful makeup tips and we want to tell you about them. In this article you will find 20 makeup tips every twenty-something needs.

  1. Use an angled eyeshadow brush and a shadow of the same color and apply it over the eyeliner to help your eyeliner stay put. You can seal the liner in place by using the powder shadow.
  2. Use Kool Aid mix, water and your finger for a long lasting lip stain. Extra bonus: it has a great taste.
  3. It doesn’t matter if your makeup has SPF, you can’t rely on that alone. The reason for that is you can’t apply makeup as effectively as you would apply sunscreen. Wear a lightweight, non-greasy product underneath your makeup. You should do it even if it is not sunny.
  4. Apply a makeup setting spray when you know your makeup has to stay put for few hours. It will help you to hold your makeup in place.
  5. Apply pink concealer to hide spots or dark circles, because pink will neutralize purple or blue colors. Apply green concealer to hide blemishes or acne because green will neutralize the red.
  6. Use three colors when you want to create a smokey eye. Apply one dark highlighter color in a sideways „V“ shape – along the crease, then along the upper eyelash line, one medium color in the center of your eyelid under the crease and one light tone in the inner corner and under the eyebrow bone. If you want the best results you should blend the colors well.
  7. When your brows are unruly and you are in a hurry, apply lip balm to hold them in place.
  8. Clean up any stray marks or mistakes which may have occurred when you applied your eyeliner by using a cotton swab and a bit of makeup remover.
  9. Apply a nude color lip balm crayon to the inside of your lips, just behind your lipstick to avoid your lipstick. This will prevent cracking, keep your lips hydrated and make it last much longer. And the best thing is that it won’t change the color of your lipstick.
  10. Style you hair before applying your makeup if you use heat styling tools. The heat from the tool (particularly a blow dryer) can cause your mascara to shrink, melt your makeup up making it to enter deeper into your pores and dry out your makeup. If you can, apply your makeup afterwards in a cool room.
  11. You should curl your lashes before applying your mascara and not after because your mascara can get clumpy if you curl your lashes afterwards.
  12. Apply a foundation two shades darker than your skin tone to make your nose appear smaller. You should apply it in vertical lines down the sides of your nose. Make sure to blend it. After that, apply a strip of highlighter down the center of your nose. Make sure to blend that, too. The makeup will provide you the appearance of a shadow and this will help to make your nose appear a little smaller.
  13. Apply a highlighter stick to make a huge „C“ shape on either side of your face to get a subtle highlighted look. Begin at the inner corner of your eyes, go up to just underneath your brows following the outer curve of your face and then go inward towards the apple of your cheek. You should blend the highlighter well so that you can’t see any line. Repeat the procedure on the other side of your face.
  14. Apply an eye primer to make your eyeshadow last longer. Start by applying it, and then wet your brush before immersing it into your eyeshadow. The wet shadow will stick to your lids better and it won’t slide off.
  15. Use your ring finger to apply concealer under your eyes. You should use your ring finger because it is the weakest finger and it will help you to pull the skin there as little as possible. This will help you to avoid making the sensitive skin at your eye-area loose because this may cause wrinkles.
  16. If you need a spot treatment on acne  you should apply a bit of redness reducing eye drops to the problematic area. These drops will help to camouflage the read, evening up tone of your skin.
  17. To layer your eyelashes with the most mascara possible, position the mascara wand at the root of your eyelashes and softly shake the brush up towards the tips. Remember to blink down onto the brush as you go. Also, feel free to apply two layers!
  18. If you ignore to clean your makeup brushes, you are applying bacteria, oil and old makeup onto your skin every time you use your makeup brush. You should clean your makeup brusher on a weekly basis using warm water and anti-bacterial soap.
  19. Instead of a lip brush use a concealer brush to apply you lipstick to achieve even color application and precision.
  20. Apply a bit of white liner along your bottom water line and in the corner of your eyes before taking a photo to make your eyes appear larger and brighter.
