Women Go Wild for $12 Lotion from Japan

A Lotion from Japan that has a cult following on the Internet for literally transforming your skin …

Lurk around the skin-obsessed forums of Reddit for more than five seconds, and you’ll see one product  that has hundreds of five-star reviews online. That product is the Hada Labo Rohto Hadalabo Gokujun Hyaluronic Lotion Moist, which is less like a lotion and more like a super thin, ultra-lightweight liquid that sinks into your skin to deeply moisturize it, leaving it shockingly plump and dewy.

Ladies are going wild for this curious Japanese lotion that replenishes and locks-in moisture for complete hydration. One woman said that the lotion left her skin looking ten years younger, while another claimed it was the ‘best product out there’.

I’m a dry-skinned human who has a complexion akin to stale melba toast. I’ve tried literally every single “remedy” for dry, dehydrated skin, and most of them barely make a difference in my skin.  So despite the zillions and zillions of positive reviews on both Amazon and the internet at large (it has over 600 five-star reviews from impressed users on Amazon), I was skeptical when I ordered the $12 bottle from Amazon.

The formula, which is housed in a bottle that’s covered in almost zero English, comes with different kinds of hyaluronic acids in multiple molecule sizes so it can hydrate your skin on different levels and helps to keep it hydrated throughout the day! It’s important to note that this lotion comes in a dispense bottle. This makes it easy to portion the amount of it, which is important because you don’t need more than a few drops for your whole face.

The hyaluronic acid attracts and holds water like tiny magnetized sponges, making everything you apply on top of it (like your usual moisturizers and serums) a billion times more effective and hydrating. The result?! A happier skin barrier, skin is more bouncy, softened bumps and dry patches, plumped fine lines, and all-around dewy, glowing, brightness.

It´s light weight, hydrating and really keeps my face and neck from drying especially now in winter.

“I have dehydrated and dry skin that basically needs constant basting. I have been using Hada Labo twice a day, and I’ve noticed a massive improvement … I can feel my poor, sad face slurping it up,” wrote one user.

Another added “I have been using this lotion for few weeks and [my skin] now looks 10 years younger. I was able to see results from first time of use.  I can’t even believe my skin condition has improved so much after only few weeks without any effort.”

The user goes on to explain the right and wrong way to use the toner, which is to apply it by putting a few drops on your palms and massage it into slightly damp skin, rather than dry skin. The reason? You want to give it some water to cling on to because hyaluronic acid pulls water into your skin and holds it.  “Don’t forget to wet your face first, because if you use it on dry skin, it’ll make your face look ever drier,” they write.

As for me, after three days of morning and night use, I noticed that my usually dry, irritated skin felt significantly less itchy and calmer. Also, the dry flakes that tend to creep up on me throughout the day at my bone-dry office were surprisingly MIA.

The lotion is watery but somehow not runny and I feel like it leaves my skin a little bit tacky or sticky when I use too much. However, when I slather on my moisturizer and primer, the feeling quickly gets squashed. Overall, though, this product is absolute must have for dry aging skin and I’m honestly in love with this little bottle of happiness. It makes my skin look fresh and young and I plan to continue slathering it on my skin until I die.
